  • Head Coach's Thoughts
    • Simon Sinek has a concept that he calls The Golden Circle.  It consists of three concentric circles representing "What We Do", "How We Do", and "Why We Do".
    • Most of the time we think about What We Do and work our way from the outside in.  Sinek challenges us to start with Why.
    • Parents, why do you let your child swim?  Here are some potential reasons:
      • I want my child to do something they enjoy.
      • My child has really good friends and develops good relationships with them through this sport.
      • My child can learn great lessons from participating in a sport.
    • Athletes, why do you want to swim?  Here are some possible reasons:
      • I enjoy spending time with my friends.
      • I like challenging myself and getting better at the sport.
      • I love racing and competing against other athletes.
    • I challenge ALL of us to consider why we participate in this sport in the way that we do.  As we do this, we'll have increased mindfulness and grit to achieve growth!
  • Meet Recaps
    • We had about 15 swimmers who warmed up the Olympic Trials Pool at the Stadium Splash.  It was a phenomenal experience, and we had some really good swims!
    • Thank you to everyone for supporting SSC at Summer Sizzler.  The coaches and swimmers from the other teams were incredibly appreciative of all we did to put on a good meet for them.
    • This weekend was a great meet!  We had so many athletes with personal best times, new cuts, and lots of fun.  In my book, that's a successful weekend!
    • A special shoutout to Aiden Stivers for competing at Paralympic Trials this past weekend; he won his classification in the 100 Breast and placed 2nd in the 200 IM.
  • Upcoming Meets:
    • 7/11-14, Combined Age Group and Senior State: Please see the meet page for more info.  Of note, the prelims for the 15&O athletes will be at Center Grove, and the prelims for Age Group and all finals will be at the IU Natatorium.
